Best Life Living Tip
I recently attended the Marie Claire Power Play event in Atlanta. According to editor Nikki Ogunnaike, “Power plays out in so many areas of our lives. But the concept can be complicated, especially for women. Too much power and you’re unlikable. Not enough, and you risk not having a seat at the table.”
So, what should power mean to us? What should it be used for, and who should have it?
These are the kind of questions they’re exploring at Marie Claire, both at their Power Play events, where they gather and celebrate influential women, and in their coverage of politics, money, career, and leadership.
SO many great takeaways — but one of my favorites was from A-G1 supplement CEO Kat Cole.
She succinctly stated that we must, “Ask. Answer. Act.”
It’s a super smart and powerful tool to lead growth and change in all areas of our lives, both personal and professional. You can do it!
Self-Care Strategy
You have to put yourself in the best place for success.
Have a big meeting tomorrow? Get a good night’s sleep. Need to review finance and make sure things add up? Let’s put down the glass of wine.
I know I do my best writing in the morning, even though I am a late-night person. My “words work better” when I am fresh.
I was on the phone with a dear friend this week. She had run errands all day, went to 2 different stores for recipe ingredients, and then started making Barbecue Sauce at 4:30 in the afternoon, just before she had to have supper on the table for her family.
She was exasperated.
I said, “Honey, this is not your job! This is something you want to do. You do not have to do it today. Do it tomorrow when you are fresh. Give yourself the best chance of success.”
It hit me — that can apply to us every day!
Sure, we all have to do things we may want or not want to do. One way or the other, the key to success is to put yourself in the best place for success.
BTW I’ve included the recipe for the BBQ Sauce she was making below. It’s my own Vidalia Onion Barbecue Sauce!

So what’s the cheat code? Serving warm protein on salad and skipping the starch altogether. Guess what’s the salad dressing? The gravy. Yes, spoon the cooking juices over the greens and it’s explosive flavor. You’re going to love it. I’ve nearly quit having a starch at supper. It’s greens and vegetables with protein. Give it a try!
