Budget-Friendly Seafood

Air Fryer Fish Tacos are an easy, healthy, and budget-friendly way to incorporate seafood into your diet. Dietary guidelines recommend we eat fish about twice a week, about 8 ounces total. In this simple recipe, a quick toss of fish with warm spices and cornstarch forms a crispy coating without panko or deep-frying.

You’re going to love them. Read on for easy ways to add seafood to your diet without breaking the bank.

Best Life Living Tip

Fish is a low-fat protein that is full of omega-3 fatty acids – which can benefit both our hearts and brains.  We need to eat it twice a week for optimal nutrition. Aim for 8 oz. weekly (1 can tuna = 3–4 oz.; salmon steak = 4–6 oz.).

Fresh fish and seafood can be costly, and tinned seafood is exorbitant, but nothing is as costly as poor health. And,  there are budget-friendly ways to incorporate sustainable seafood into your menu plan. (Check out SeafoodWatch.org for more info on sustainable seafood.)

It doesn’t have to be $25 piece of swordfish or a $30 side of Costco salmon.

Tips on How to Eat More Seafood (Without Breaking the Bank)

  • Mix it up: Look past tuna, shrimp, and salmon. Try trout, cod, haddock, barramundi, and mahi mahi.
  • Pack the freezer: Having frozen portions of fish on hand is a health game-changer. You can cook it from frozen!
  • Don’t forget shellfish: Mussels, clams, oysters, shrimp, and squid count, too.
  • Stock the pantry: Canned salmon, tuna, or sardines are quick, affordable, and versatile.
  • Get creative: Try tacos, salmon patties, shrimp stir-fry, or seafood pasta.

Self-Care Strategy

11 lines are vertical lines that appear between the brows due to repeated expression and movement of the brows and forehead.

11s are a natural part of getting older and tend to pop up when you make certain facial expressions, like frowning or squinting. When several muscles contract, they pull the skin toward the centre of your brows, ultimately causing the skin to furrow and form glabellar lines. Over time, these repeated contractions can etch themselves into your skin, even when your face is relaxed.

Try to love on them, not loathe them!

At-Home Treatments for the 11s

Yes, there’s always Botox.

And…At-home treatments provide a convenient and budget-friendly option for addressing forehead wrinkles. By incorporating simple skincare practices into your routine, you can improve the appearance of 11 lines over time.

Here are some effective at-home treatments:

Looking for a quick way to ease tension and support healthy skin? Try Facial Massage:

  • Thumb trick: Hold your thumb upside down and gently flick between your brows where “11 lines” form.
  • Muscle relaxer: This light tapping helps the procerus muscle release, softening frown lines.
  • Circulation boost: Encourages healthy blood flow, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin.
  • Mind-body benefit: Activates an acupressure point that helps calm stress and ease tension.
  • Prevention bonus: Regular practice makes you less likely to develop deep “number 11” lines.

A few mindful minutes every day with this practice can refresh your skin, relax your muscles, and settle your mind. Try to incorporate it into your nighttime relaxation routine.
